Overview of natural biodegradable polymers and their importance

The use of biodegradable materials in pharmaceutical and biomedical industries is increasing day after day. Two classes of biodegradable biopolymers can be distinguished : biodegradable polyesters and agro-polymers. These polymers present some advantage and because of that, they are used in packaging, agriculture, medicine, pharmaceuical industries, biomedical industries and so forth. In this review we present in an overview of the different biodegradable polymers that are currently being used industries as well as their properties and applications. Many biopolymers have been discovered recently but some of them need to be transformed in other to be more adapted in polymer field.

Inhibitory effect of EHEM, a combination extracts of Annona senegalensis Pers. and Piliostigma thonningii (Schum.) on TNF-α production

Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) is a pleiotropic cytokine exerting homeostatic functions but also involved in the pathogenesis of various diseases. Annona senegalensis Pers (Annonaceae) (A. senegalensis) and Piliostigma thonningii (Schum.) (Leguminoseae) (P. thonningii) are two medicinal plants used, often in combination, in Togolese traditional medicine, to treat diseases with an inflammatory component. The aim of this study is to evaluate effect of hydro-ethanolic extract (EHEM) of the combination of these two plants, on TNF-α production and some inflammatory cells (PNN, ESO and MON) recruitment. Ovalbumin-induced allergic airway asthma model and carrageenan-induced acute inflammation model were used. EHEM at 250 and 500 mg / kg were tested. TNF-α, polymorphonuclear neutrophils and eosinophils as well as monocytes were evaluated. Results showed that EHEM significantly and dose dependently inhibited the production of TNF-α as well as that of the inflammatory cells monitored. EHEM also inhibited the carrageenan-induced edema at the 3rd hour after treatment. Results suggest that EHEM exerts ant-inflammatory activities, this might justify the use of this combination of plants in traditional Togolese medicine to alleviate inflammatory conditions therefore this plant can be used for sportsmen who often have problems of inflammation.

Antioxidant, Anti-diabetics, Anti-inflammatory activity of green synthesized Cobalt Nano Particles (Co3O4NPs) mediated by traditional medicinal plant of Ocimum Basilicum Lamiaceae (Thiruneetru Pachilai) Leaves Extract

This study targets to assess the subordinate antioxidant, antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory activities of cobalt nanoparticles mediated by Ocimum Basilicum Lamiaceae (Thiruneetru Pachilai) Leaves Extract, Ocimum basilicum L. (Lamiaceae) commonly known as sweet basil, has been used as a traditional medicinal plant for the treatment of headaches, coughs, diarrhea, constipation, warts, worms, and kidney malfunctions. The aqueous leaves extracts mediated green synthesized cobalt nanoparticles was characterized by FTIR spectroscopy, the results of FTIR spectroscopy was evident that the reducing tendency of Ocimum Basilicum Lamiaceae (Thiruneetru Pachilai) Leaves Extract and also gives spinal structure of Co3O4 nanoparticles. The green synthesized cobalt nanoparticles were screened by anti-oxidant, anti-diabetics and anti-inflammatory studies.

A Review on Phyto chemical, Antimicrobial and Antioxidant properties in medicinal plant Oxystelma esculentum R. Br

Numerous plants that are frequently encountered and described in works on traditional Indian medicine have not been properly studied. It is required to evaluate, standardize, record, and patent these plants in a systematic manner. One of these understudied plants is Oxystelma esculentum R. Br. (Family - Asclepiadaceae), also known as "Jaldudhi." It offers a wide range of therapeutic potential that is crucial for treating diseases of the modern day like cancer, hepatitis, kidney disorders, disorders linked to stress and microbial infections. Cardenolides and pregnane glycosides, which are easily derived from this plant and can serve as precursors of numerous therapeutically significant chemicals, are two highly important groups of phytoconstituents that are present in it. Future research on this plant will be crucial for creating formulations or semi-synthetic compounds, conducting pre-clinical or clinical trials, and fractionating medicinal phytoconstituents based on bioactivity. The current review illuminates the research that has been done on this plant so far and offers insightful guidelines for the work that can be done in the future. It is based on a thorough literature search of reputable books, scientific websites, and high-impact journals.

An Exploratory survey on Chamaerops humilis L. Fruits used by people in Moroccan region Beni Mellal-Khenifra

Present paper offers considerable information on different uses of wild Chamaerops humilis L called "Doum" by the inhabitants of Beni mellal khenifra region in Morocco, to evaluate the potential for a new products based on Chamaerops humilis L  fruits.  A semi-structured questionnaire was used to gather data from 250 informants from five different localities Beni-mellal, Azilal, Khenifra, Khouribga, and Fquih Ben Saleh from May to September 2021. data were analyzed using statistical analysis (SPSS) and quantitative analysis use value (UV), fidelity level (FL), Relative frequency citation (RFC), Relative popularity level (RPL) and Rank order priority (ROP) indices. Chi-square test (p = 0.05) was used to test association between informants and the usage of Chamaerops humilis L . fruits. The fruit of Chamaerops humilis L . is used by informants at a rate of 61.6%. However, usage varies by location, with the highest usage occurring in the Khenifra, Azilal, and Beni Mellal provinces at 80%, 76%, and 62%, respectively. Usage is lower in Kouribga at 52% and Fquih Ben Saleh at 38%. 30.3% of users of Chamaerops humilis L. fruit use it in traditional medicine to treat gastrointestinal disorders, prostate issues, and urinary infections, and no side effects have been reported. This work provides the basis for the use of C. humilis "Doum" in the pharmaceutical, food and nutraceutical industries. Moreover, this survey should be replicated on other wild plants and fruits in Morocco.
